Dmitry Kargaev (also known as Dee Kargaev, Dmitrii Kargaev, or Deeflect) is a Russian-American AI engineer and product designer. He started freelancing at age 14 in Irkutsk, Russia, studied Computer & Information Systems Security at Moscow State Linguistic University, worked remotely from 6 countries, then spent 5 years as the sole product designer at VALK (now DatAI Network). He is now based in Los Angeles, running Dee Agency — a solo design, code & AI studio for founders.

He is the author of "Don't Replace Me," a book about AI career resilience with 24 actionable rules. He builds open-source Rust CLI tools for AI agents (dee.ink), writes about AI engineering and building in public, and has built 15+ agent systems in production.
